Heavenly Scent

Heavenly Scent

Joyful memories of my childhood and youth are intertwined with the calmness and the serenity that surrounds my paternal church. The soothing aroma of the burning incense, the harmonizing sound of the hand bells and the marvaso, the grand processions, the vespers, and the rites and the rituals; it was life, there was no life without it. To be raised there in the sacred grounds is one of the greatest blessings I have in my life. In all my daily trifles and seasonal falls, the strength assimilated from there is a shelter.

At every point of life God gives us something to be joyful about; like a mother he tries to keep us happy even in our miseries; but we may or may not have the understanding at that point to recognize it. Most often, by the time we recognize it, it will be far away from us.

Heard somewhere this simile. In our home there are several rooms built for different purposes, however small or big it is, we would like to adorn it based on our needs and the skills and the taste. Then, we do not like to create our buildings the same way, even when the same capital is utilized, the buildings come in different forms and varieties based on our needs; and even for the same purpose it varies largely. So, if we would like our creation to be different and unique based on our needs, then how about our creator. Again, if we consider a large building, only few people who are users of it will be permitted inside it, that too specific to their allocated location. And inside that some chambers are reserved for certain people only. So, every human being uses their skill and abilities to fulfill their needs, their dreams.

So, if, in this world everything is fashioned in this way, there shall be a divine goal and objectives which we are not aware of, we at this point only know our goals. If there is a divine plan, there will be a divine executor and his staff as well. We have to assume that everyone in this world is assigned a position based on their merits and their interests, which is suited to them; and suited to the execution of the divine goals. We cannot really say, we want all the rooms in our home to be alike, each room has its own function. When we are in alignment with the divine purpose, we accept our life as it is; our dreams and wishes may not fulfill or may fulfill, it totally depends on the divine goals and the objectives. We take responsibility for our life’s action and course; we won’t blame it upon others. And God is not going to be angry about it; it is a system where everyone naturally reaps what they sow. He, through his executors or maybe his favorite kids, has given us instructions on how to live, so that we will be aligned with his goals.
