January 

New Year is the first day of January. It is the start of the New Year. People have fun celebrating New Year with a party.

Martin Luther King Junior was a famous leader. He fought for all people to be treated equally, no matter their race. MLK Jr. day is celebrated in January.

There are many animals that live in cold areas. Penguins are a type of polar animal. Penguins are animals that can swim but don't fly. They swim in the ocean and slide on the ice. They can also slide and jump. Penguins are often white and black. They are funny to watch when they slide on the ice. They eat sardines. You can see Penguins at the zoo. They can swim in water and play in the water. They are really cute. I like Penguins because they are funny and cute. I like to watch them play at the zoo.

Opinion Writing - The best snack is popcorn. Popcorn is salty and buttery. I like to eat popcorn while watching movies.

Opinion Writing - The best season is winter. I love when it snows. I love winter because I can make snowman and snow angels and have snowball fights. Snow is so much fun. When there is snow, I like to build a snowman. I can use a carrot for his nose and stones for his ears. I like to put on a scarf, gloves and a hat. I give him pieces of carrot for his eyes, mouth, and buttons. He had a nose. I like to watch snowflakes and feel it on my tongue. 

During the winter season, people like to do ice skating at the ice rink. There are trainers who teach you to spin and twirl. You can even skate backwards. 

February 

Groundhog Day is in February. The Groundhog comes out of his hole. If he sees his shadow, we will have six more weeks of winter. If he does not, winter is over.

President Day is celebrated in February. It honors George Washington, the 1st President of the United States of America.

Chinese New Year is a festival that marks the beginning of spring. It is the start of the New Year according to the Chinese lunar calendar.

We can see planets and stars in outer space. Astronauts travel to outer space in rockets. Earth is one of the planets. 

Opinion Writing - My favorite holiday is Valentine's Day. I like to give my friends and family Valentine's Day cards. I also like to eat chocolate. My family is very important to me. They help me when I am sick and cheer me up when I am sad. I love my family.

This is the 100th day of school. Today, we celebrated by having a party. We count to 100. I am excited for the 100th day of school. We are going to bring in projects with the 100 items. My project has 100 candies.

I love playing with my friends, they are kind to me and like to have fun. Friendship is very important. I like to draw pictures with the heart for Valentine's Day. I color them red, pink, and purple. I give them to people I love. We have a party for Valentine's Day. 

March

Saint Patrick's Day is a very fun day. Children like to draw pictures of Shamrock, rainbows, and leprechauns. I like to eat gold coin chocolates. Kids like to fly kites. It was very windy. They flew very high in the sky. The kites had a tail with pretty colors, blue and red. I drew a picture of Shamrock. It was green with three leaves.

Plants and animals both have a life cycle. Life cycle shows how things grow and develop. Plants get water and sunlight and grow tall. Animals get food and grow bigger. Plants grow out of the ground, some are green and some have flowers. Plants need water and sunlight to grow.

Our family is the people who are related to us. Some members of a family live together. Other members of a family might live far away. Family is important.

I love rainbows. They are very pretty. They have many colors. I love them because they come out after a rainstorm.

Read Across America Day Celebrated in March, children all over the country celebrate the joy of reading. It is celebrated on Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

There are many different types of weather. It can be sunny and snowy, windy, rainy, cloudy or rainy. I like all types of weather. March can come in like a lion and go out like a lamb. This month it was raining in the beginning and at the end of the month it was sunny.

Favorite activity - My brother likes to build robots. He builds them at school with his friends. The robots can roll, move and grab objects.

Opinion Writing - Easter is my favorite holiday. The best part of Easter is going to Church. I like Easter because I can decorate eggs and get candy from Easter eggs. I get fun presents in my Easter baskets.

One of the four seasons is spring. The weather changes in the spring. In the spring, trees begin to grow green leaves. In spring the snow starts to melt. Animals come out of their hibernation in spring. It begins to get warmer. Sometimes it's rainy. Plants begin to grow in the spring. They get taller and grow leaves. Some plants even get flowers. I plant flowers in my garden. The flowers are of many different colors; they smell good and they are very pretty. Baby animals are born in the spring. There are many rainy days in the spring. On rainy days, I wear my raincoat and carry an umbrella. I like to jump in the puddles. 

Opinion Writing - My favorite season is spring. I like spring because I can fly kites, I can plant flowers and jump in puddles. My favorite spring flower is the tulips. Tulips can be red, white, pink, yellow, or orange. Tulips are a sign of spring.

In the spring, we can see many spring animals such as bunnies and chicks. Baby animals are born in the spring. The chicks are yellow and the bunnies are white. Caterpillars, ladybugs, and ants all come out in the spring. Caterpillars turn into butterflies. I love butterflies. They can be in many pretty colors. My favorite butterfly is the monarch butterfly. It is black and orange. In the spring, I visit the ponds. 

At the ponds, I see frogs and ducks. I like to feed the fish at the pond.

We celebrate Earth Day in the spring. Earth Day is a day to remember how to treat the planet kindly. It is important to recycle and not to litter. Recycling is important for our planet. We can recycle plastic, paper, and metal to be made into new items. Recycling reduces the trash we make. 

My favorite hobby is gardening. I like to plant all different types of flowers. I water my flowers each day. My garden is beautiful.

May

Cinco de Mayo is celebrated on May 5th. It celebrates the victory of Mexico over France in their war. Many people have parties on this day. Different types of pets.

People can have dogs, cats, fish, or birds or even hamsters as their pets. Some people even have cows and pigs as pets. Squirrels are animals that run up in trees and eat nuts. Squirrels collect nuts for the winter and bring them to their nest. They eat these nuts all winter. I love my pets. I have two dogs and a cat. They like to play together. I feed and play with them every day. My favorite type of pet is a dog. I love dogs because they are friendly and like to fetch. I play fetch with my dogs.

Favorite activity - I like to visit the Western states. It is fun to see the desert. I even saw a cactus. I also love to ride on horses. I also like to feel the warm air.

Opinion Writing - Pizza is my favorite food. I like to have pepperoni and cheese on my pizza. It is the best. 

Favorite activity - I went to the farm with my class. We saw cows and chickens. I got to see a farmer milk a cow. The farmer collected the chicken eggs.

Students graduate in the spring. I graduated to the next grade. My dear sister graduated high school. She wore a cap and gown and got a diploma.

Insects have six legs. Some insects can fly. Some insects can crawl. Some insects can fly. Insects are small and like to move around outside.

Mother’s Day is celebrated in May. It honors all the hard work that mothers do for their children. Mothers get gifts like flowers and chocolate.

June

I love to go camping in the summer. I set up my tent near a lake. I love to go fishing and hiking. Camping is the best. It is my favorite outdoor activity. I put a worm on my worm hook; I cast my line in the lake. I am happy when I catch a fish. I also enjoy swimming in the lake. It is fun to go to the beach and enjoy the summer sun and build sandcastles during summer.

Opinion Writing - My favorite fruit is strawberry. They are red, juicy, and sweet. I love eating them in strawberry shortcake. I love watermelon, it is sweet and juicy. I spit out the seeds. It is my favorite summer snack.

I visited the zoo with my family. We saw elephants, tigers, monkeys, and lions. It was fun to see all of the animals.

Favorite activity - My favorite place to visit is the beach. I love to build sandcastles and swim in the ocean. I love to jump in the waves. 

July

We celebrate Independence Day on July 4th in the United States. We like to watch fireworks at night.  Every year on Independence Day, we have fun grilling kabobs in our backyard.

Flags are a symbol of a country. We fly the flag to honor our country. In the United States, the flag is red, white and blue.

Favorite activity - My favorite activity is biking. My bike is red and black in color. Next year, I will get a new black and green bicycle.

My dad works in Construction. He built houses for people who need them. He uses big machines to dig and to lift heavy materials.

In summer I had lots of fun. I learnt to ride a bicycle and enjoyed playing in the park. I planted seeds and watched them grow and give flowers.

My mom made snacks, and we went to our friend’s house. I had fun seeing them. They were excited to see us. We enjoyed our short trip.

Today is the first day of school. I am in third grade. I am very excited. I am eager to learn a lot of different things. I love going back to school because I love doing different activities. I love playing with my friends and going to the library. 

I like to tell a lot about myself. I have brown eyes and black hair. I like to ride my bicycle. I am a third grader. I have different feelings every day. Some days I am very happy; some days I am a little bit sad. It is okay to have many feelings; my teacher said so. I am a happy kid, most of the time. I like to play and run on the playground. I always smile. I like my friends to be happy too. I love my friends and my friends are kind.

September 

The fall season is very colorful. People like to have campfires in the fall season. People like to go and do apple picking. They also like to go to pumpkin patches and get pumpkins.

In fall, I love to go to the orchard, and pick some apples. Green apples are my favorite, because they are tart. The best way to eat green apples is with caramel. I also like to drink apple cider and eat apple pie.

In the fall, the leaves change color and it falls on the ground. There are different kinds of leaves. They are of different colors orange, yellow, brown, and red. Days are shorter and cooler in the fall. I like to touch the leaves and feel them. I like to smell the cool crisp air during autumn. I also like to drink hot apple cider.

There are many different types of transportation such as trains, cars, planes, helicopters, boats, ships, and buses.  All of these can transport us from one place to another. Planes and helicopters fly in the air. Cars and buses go on the road. Trains go on the railroad. Boats and ships go on water. People use bicycles to travel as well. It is an environmentally friendly and healthy means of travel. However, it poses serious threats while using bicycles along with other fast-moving vehicles on the road. In olden days walking and animals were the primary means of transportation. Tribes like Lakota and Pueblo people used horses and buffalos for their needs.

A letter to my cousin

I like to talk to you often. I always like to remember the time we spent together. It makes me very happy to see all the nice shirts, books, and crafts that your mom sent to me. I love you so much. I look forward to spending vacation with you and having fun again.

Scarecrows are placed in the field. It is made of straw. It has clothes and a hat. It keeps the crows from eating the corn. 

Pumpkins are big fruits. They have pulp and seeds inside. They have a hard shell and a stem. They have leaves and vines also popping out of their stem.

Bats are nocturnal animals. They sleep during the daytime. During the night they use sonar to fly in the dark. They hang upside down on trees. Many bats eat fruits.

Farmers work in farms. Wheat and corn grow in the field. There are also pigs, cows, and sheep in the farm. In the farm there are tractors which the farmers use for plowing. 

For Halloween, people wear costumes. Children are excited to wear their costumes and go trick or treating. They get candy. People dress up like monsters to scare others. I don't like to dress up as a monster for Halloween. Monsters have different kinds of eyes, teeth, hands, and legs which are scary. The best Halloween candy is candy corn. Candy corn is orange, yellow, and green. It is sweet and tasty. 

Opinion Writing - I like sunflowers and roses. They are my favorite flowers. Sunflowers grow taller than me. They are yellow and brown. Roses grow in rose bushes. They are different colors of roses which are red, rose, white, and yellow.

It is very important to take care of your teeth. Everyone needs to brush their teeth two times a day and floss their teeth as well.

November 

Veteran's day is on November 11th. Veteran's day is to celebrate those people who served in the military. Veterans sacrificed a lot for our country so that we could be safe.

Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated in November. It is a time for giving thanks to everything that we have. People gather together with their families and eat and enjoy.

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. Because I like having big dinner with my family. 

For Thanksgiving, I ate Turkey and stuffing. On Thanksgiving Day, I had apple pie for dessert. I had ice cream with my apple pie. The apple pie was sweet and warm. But the food that I most liked was stuffing. 

We all said what we are thankful for. I am thankful for what I have. I am thankful for my family and my friends. I am thankful that I am healthy.

Opinion Writing - My favorite type of pie is apple pie. It has cream and cinnamon. I like to eat it with vanilla ice cream. It's very tasty. Some people like pumpkin pie with cream.

People eat turkey for Thanksgiving. They also use turkey meat to make their lunch sandwiches during other times of the year. Turkeys have soft brown and black feathers and funny faces. They tried to fly but can't fly. But can't get very far off of the ground.

There are many important community helpers. Police, firefighters and doctors, they are all community helpers. They help to keep us safe and healthy. Fire safety is very important. Fire alarms help to tell us if there is a fire. If we hear a fire alarm, we go outside.

Dinosaurs lived on Earth many years ago. They were very big. Some dinosaurs could fly and swim. Later they became extinct. 

December 

During Christmas time, I am excited for Santa to visit me. I like to decorate the Christmas tree and get presents. He has a red coat and a hat. He lives in the North Pole. He has reindeer and a sleigh. Reindeer leaves in the North Pole. They help to fly Santa. Rudolf is a reindeer that has a Red Nose. I think the elves are the most important part of the North Pole. They help make all of the toys and gifts and wrap them up.

Winter is one of the four seasons. During the winter it is cold and sometimes snow. Snow falls from the sky. Each snowflake is different. Snow is wet and cold. The days are shorter during the winter. People need to wear jackets, boots, and mittens during the winter.

Candy canes are a candy we often have at Christmas. They were originally red and white and tasted like peppermint. Now candy canes come in all different colors.

Polar bears live in the snow and ice. Polar bears are cold and blend in with the snow.  A polar bear is a large bear. Polar bears live in snowy areas. Polar birds eat fish.

Opinion Writing - During winter, I love to drink hot cocoa. I can add marshmallows to my hot cocoa. I make it with the extra chocolate and marshmallows. It is hot, sweet, and creamy.

I like fairy tale stories because they often have a Prince or Princess. They are fun to listen to.

I like gingerbread man cookies. You can make it into a house or a person. You can decorate it. It is tasty to eat.
